Question Jun 14, 2020 at 08:19 PM

I'm not quite sure what I was expecting to get from this site, but I hope I can find some people who can empathize with what I'm going through. Years ago, one of my alcoholic dad's friends touched me inappropriately. I was 6 years old. The other night I was drinking with some friends and a sex offended who happened to be in our yard put his arm around me. It instantly triggered something inside of me that I haven't been able to shake. I've been having chronic anxiety since the incident and I really wish I could just move on and not let it bother me. Unfortunately however, life isn't fair. If anyone has any tips please reach out to me.

Hello ShakyLady: Thank you for bringing your concern here to PC. I'm not the member you're looking for. But I noticed this is your first post. Welcome to Psych Central.

One additional forum, here on PC, that may be of interest to you would be the Anxiety, Panic & Phobias forum. Here's a link:

And then here are links to 4 articles, from Psych Central's archives, on the subject of healing from childhood sexual abuse plus links to 3 articles that offer tips for relieving anxiety:
