I’ll give you a brief overview.
I’m 4-5 and the babysitter was a teenager. He molested me. I don’t remember exactly when my mom found out, but she never did anything about it. I was pregnant with my 2nd child in 2013 and was asked if I was ever sexually abused. I confided in the lady, she reported it. State Police called me, asked if I wanted to file a report. I did, however I never pressed charges against the men. I’m 34 now and finally in the process of healing. Here’s my question, if I were to press charges now, would anything happen to my mom since she didn’t do anything years ago? I live in PA. Thanks |

Welcome to pc, JuneGirl85. I do not live in (or near to) your location, so I cannot offer advice. I did however want to welcome you to pc. I hope you find pc to be helpful.

Welcome to Psych Central, JuneGirl. I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you with regard to your concern. My gut-level reaction would be that, no, nothing would likely happen to your mother, although if this all ended up in court, I would presume she might be called to testify. But that's just my personal, non-professional opinion. This is really a legal matter. And my recommendation would be to consult an attorney where you live. I hope you find PC to be of benefit.
