Trig Is life meaningful at all?

I've never believed life had a meaning, and I still don't. Not because I'm depressed or sad, not because I'm unhappy and I've had a bad life, but because life's boring and we'll always be slaves.

Let me explain myself. I'm a student, and I never liked school. Not even a little bit. Fake people I dislike everywhere, nasty teachers in every subject, poor education system and boring subjects and activities. I've always been considered smarted than the rest of the kids my age, and my family still thinks so, but I don't agree with that, I'm not smarter anymore, because I gave up before.

All you do is memorise and try to survive in order to work until you die. Were we born for this? Is life meaning a simply "study, work, die"? I never do and never did homework, teachers tried to screw me up for this several times. They even threatened me of repeating grades, supposedly because I don't work enough. I'm always quiet, they seem to hate that apparently. I always tell lies, because I learnt that's the only way to survive. Lie, hate, be above anyone else. I didn't learn this by myself, but school and society taught me that. However, I'm unsuccessful. My marks are poor and simply fair. I can't get any motivation by thinking of my future. I'm already sick of studying, and I still have to study for more years or I'll have to immediately go work in poor conditions. However, even if I study a lot and I get successful marks, that doesn't mean I'll have a good life. Capacity of memorisation isn't equal to success.

Then, now, let me ask: what's supposed to be the meaning of life, when the future looks so dark, empty and boring?

It sounds like you are in a lonely place. Are you sure you are not depressed?

You may not see it now but life is full of meaning. Finding your first love, getting married, having kids, etc. I think when we are teens we just focus on the here and now. Thats what it was like for me and seems to be that way for my 15 year old nephew. If we just focus on I am going to die one day we miss out on alot of stuff. Hope this helped some.

I guess my question to you would be: what do you want your life to mean?

life means diffrent things to diffrent people

for example:

if someone, for example, I don't know.. spent their days helping the homeless, then they'd have a meaning in their life- that meaning being to get up in the morning, get out their and help people less fortunate than themselves

if someone, for example, liked animals and traveling, then maybe their meaning is to travel the world making films about animals of the world to broadcast on tv and to bring the world of animals to others.

finding it is the first step, and that's always the hardest part

I've got a fair life, I would say. But I'm pretty pessimistic about the future, it's hard for me to think of a good future when all I see is what I mentioned in the thread. I wouldn't say I'm depressed, if I'm even able to feel depressed at all.

The thing is that I'm unable to think that things like "finding your first love", getting married, having kids and such are fulfilling, especially when the future looks like the present but worse. There's no job that I think of that could be fun/entertaining and I lack motivation thanks to school. I don't need much money, just enough to pay basic needs (house, transport, food...). Why would I want to work, then? If I'm already sick of school and it's supposed to be better than working?

I mean, all I see now is: you start school and spend lots of years there, and now you've got the option of leaving school, or keep studying. Either way, you'll end up finishing school one day. After school, you'll have to work for almost all your life (unless you die before retirement) or life in really bad conditions. Once you reach retirement age, all you do is even more meaningless, nothing makes sense after that. You may be free from school and work (if you want), but you're limited too because of your physical (and maybe even mental) condition(s). Then you die. In my opinion, this is not meaningful. Doesn't matter if for you life's meaning is having a family and growing up with it, you decided that. You could perfectly not grow up with a family and be in both good and bad conditions during your life's course. Then, for me, if life has really got a meaning, its meaning is "study, work, die".

but that's the same for all of us

" study, work, die"

the key is to find a meaning in your life while you're alive and can make a diffrence.

when you do grow old, and you do retire (and you do die), wouldn't it be nice to remember/ be remembered by others for the good positive changes you braught about?
