I have very thick dark brown (almost black) hair, and I'm starting to get gray strands. I really don't want to start dying it yet so I have been plucking them out for about a year now as they grow in. The gray hairs seem a lot more wirey than my regular hair too. I hate them. I feel to young to get gray hair. I'm only 24! gray hair

Just venting.

Gray hair is coarser than non-gray hair so it will feel wiry, yeah.

I started noticing a strand here or there when I was 28. I still don't have a lot, at 42, but enough that it's noticeable, because it's concentrated toward the front of my head (like my bangs and stuff).

I quit dying it a long time ago but am thinking about starting up again.

I used to cut my grey hairs really short! But they looked stupid after I had 3 or 4 so I've left them and they are like candy's, at the front and they look ok. I can't die my hair anyway cuz of allergies and excessively sensitive skin (grrrr) My mother started going grey at about 24 she told me, I think its quite common (whatever that means)

I'll start coloring mine once it gets to bad. Right now I'm find plucking them out. gray hair

I don't think I will ever let mine go completely gray.

I asked my mother, and she said she started going gray at 19. gray hair

i have very dark hair too. i noticed one grey hair (coarser as you say) and so i pulled it out (i'm 28). the next day i noticed three more so i pulled them out too.

i then got to reflecting on what on earth i was going to do. whether i was going to start dying my hair (can't keep pulling them out indefinately) or just leave them be.

i decided to just leave them be.

but... i don't know. i guess... i'll probably start dying my hair. i feel old. dammit.

I'm lucky I have a lot of hair. I think I can get away with pulling them out for a while longer still.

I'm afraid if I start dying it too soon I'll ruin it. my hair is one of the few features I like about myself. My mothers has this awful cotton candy look to it from her dying it so long.

I feel old too. gray hair gray hair

LOL... if you use the right dyes and approach,,, it can turn out very good (not cotton candy)... Considerably, older then some of you gray hair I was going to let my hair go el natural... but my best friend talked me out of it for now.. though I'm growing my hair longer just fun... gray hair

the dye, changes the coarse gray hairs to a very soft feel... though not cotton candy..... I wuv my dye gray hair

Im 40 and I just started getting grays to the point where they are noticable too. I dont pull them out....I have dark hair, but I got some light brown and blonde highlights and now they just blend in, and its easier then doing your whole head becasue you dont have to worry about roots so much...

I still don't have much gray hair on my head, though I do color my hair since it's gotten "mousy" and doesn't behave very well. As a result I color it with a color close to my original color. I notice after a few months, that the hair around the front of my ears (sidebangs) is whitish (I'm age 56), and so I color it again. Yeah...I've done the plucking thing too!
My main reason, though, for coloring, is because of the manageability. Coloring gives more body, and I keep my hair rather short.
On a different note! My vaginal hair started turning WHITE in my early 40's, around the time I experienced early menopause....Not a concern for me, but I do notice it is mostly white now!

I've always said that I will embrace grey hair when I get it. But I'm 37 and I only had 2 grey hairs up until about a month ago, and now I have 5. I still like them, though, and don't plan on dying it although I'm starting to realize that I might have been naive, not realizing how I would FEEL with grey hair. I generally think it looks cute on women and I wish that more women would take a stand against dying it.

LMO!!! You're so young! I didn't realize this because of the wisdom of your posts! You go, girl!
You may find, as I have, that with age, the hair becomes mousy and unmanageable, and with color close to your own, has more body, the only reason I color mind, despite minimal gray.

me too.. I thought I would embrace it too... but the texture changed for me and I didn't like the feel of it... when I don't dye it... it sorta does springs and sprongs where ever it wants gray hair instead of where I want it to go gray hair

I've started getting gray hairs on my eyebrows. It really bites. If I keep plucking them out, soon enough I won't have any eyebrows left. I guess I could dye them.

Just get it dyed professionally, or use a semi-permanent (24 washes? they don't strip your hair).

I have had one or two (am 29) and I think plucking is silly because if you pull it out, then you get a sharp little short hair - you know? As it grows back.

I have almost black hair too and I guess sometimes, it would be nice to be blonde gray hair

My daughter, age 29, dyes her eyebrows every time she colors her hair! I've seen her do it! I think I'll try it next time I color my hair, as my eyebrows are practically invisible!

I am getting really grey in the front. tried dying it and that did nothing. didn't cover it at all. my hair was pretty long and the other day I got a wild hair (no pun intended) and went and got it cut really short. the lady just looked at my hair and said WOW! your hair is beautiful! and you know what? it really is. I will now embrace it. lol. I will be 50 next week and it is killing me lol

LOL... not wanting a uni-brow, I have to pluck my eyebrows daily.... did I mention my hair REALLY grows fast...

My eyes have changed so it is hard to see except real close up... finding those stray eyebrow hairs in between.. is getting harder and harder....
