I had an ultrasound too on my pelvic and it showed that I have a fibroid. My periods went up the wall. Hopefully your ultrasound will show up what is going on with you.

Good luck

I have a pelvic ultrasound on Friday, 9/1. I'm so anxious I'm almost calm...it's like...I'm so anxious that I'm exhausted and on remote control. I mean, there comes a point of such extreme anxiety that I just go blank. Or something.

I had the ultrasound yesterday. Now I'm waiting to hear of the result. Of course, I cannot stop thinking about it. I am also trying really hard to be objhective and not become frantic with anxiety.

Okay, my GP called...the result of the ultrasound is inconclusive. It didn't really see anything for sure, except that there might be a "strip" of the uterine wall that is thickened. So the next test in this procedure is a uterine biopsy. *sigh* I'll see my gyn on Thursday & he'll schedule the biopsy.

Thanks for the hugs, IrisBloom and prefabsprout!

Thank you, Shazerac. I cannot believe how unprepared I was for menopause. Had no idea it could be so stressful.

Maybe they will just do a hysterectomy and get it overwith. I do hope it's not anything bad.

Will they give you any pain relief for the biopsy?

I ask because my sistet had one without and it was a bit ouch, if they don't give local anaesthetic maybe ask if there is anything you can take before hand?

IrisBloom, that's kind of what I'm hoping...that the doctor offers me the option of just having a hysterectomy. I am so done with years and years of perimenopause and menopause.

prefabsprout, I have read that the doctor uses a numbing agent before the biopsy, but I sure know a lot of women who were not offered that option. I will definitely ask for it.

Oh I am glad you have that option, I did not want to scare you but my sister really found it painful (no numbing was offered). Hugs to you that this will help you get answers.

I met my new gyn - he's a sweetheart - and had the biopsy today! It went just fine, not even painful, just a feeling of two little pinches to my uterus. Results take 1 to 2 weeks. From what the doctor said, I'm not too worried. Sure, we have to check everything out, but I don't feel frantically worried at this point.

Thank you so much to those who have commented on this thread. It means a lot to me.

Great news - the biopsy result is negative. Yay! So now I just keep on keeping on this menopause journey.

That's great news! Did you get any explanations as to why you are bleeding again after so long?

Thank you, prefabsprout. Eh...gyn said the bleeding is caused by a 'stripe' of just slightly thickened endometrial lining. If the bleeding remains regular, I'll make another appointment and talk with him...seems silly to keep bleeding when I could have an ablation or a hysterectomy.
