I have experienced a lot of sexual harassment in my area.i get sexually harassed by stranger men on the bus, metro link train & near where I see a counselor.i have had guys say sexual things to me as i am just minding my own business on a bench in a public place.I have had guys ask me if they can come home with me & have sex with them.have had guys grab my *** in public.tell me they want to make babies with me etc.because of this i have trust issues with men & have not had sex in 8 & half years.i want to be in a relationship but start off as friends first.but the few guy friends i have are either not my type, have girlfriends or we are just in the friend zone & they do not like me like the way i like them.my counselor who's a male is trying to get me to do online dating.that is how he meet his wife who he married 2 months ago.i did try online dating but i had creepy unattractive guys acting inappropriate towards me on 2 dating apps & i deleted my profiles after just a month or 2.plus i didn't get many replies or when i did get a lot of replies i was asked for nudes, how often i have sex etc.i just want to be respected & find a loving relationship.i don't hate men but i have trust issues do to sexual harassment & from a bad relationship i was in 20 years ago

How terrible! I guess there's no one to report to about the actions and comments of strangers. I'm hoping the me, too movement/environment will start helping and that you can give a good slap to the face to some of these jerks.
(I gather you are really nice looking and attractive. ) |

So sorry you have had to go through that. I have also dealt with sexual harassment and I don't find that it ever gets easier to manage. I'm often torn between saying something to set a boundary or just ignoring and walking away.
With regard to dating, which sites did you try? I was reluctant to try online dating at all (I'm old fashioned by today's standards) after my divorce but I used to go on dates via Match (on and off for a few years) and met some nice guys. I never had a bad experience on there and nobody asked me for naked pics. I am aware that there are some sites out there which are designed only for "hook-ups." Is is possible that you inadvertently signed up for the wrong kind of site...wrong in the sense that you would like to actually date and find a relationship. Imagine that! I had two female friends seeking committed relationships who enjoyed dates via EHarmony. I just wasn't a fan because the creator has quite narrow views about divorced folks and gay men/lesbians. I should say that I did not meet my current significant other via Match but I know someone who met her husband on that site. I am sorry that your relationship 20 years ago was not a good experience. Life is filled with endless possibilities! I hope there's a good, loving man out there who'll enter your life when the timing is just right. Good luck and best wishes UCLAFan |
