Basically, I hate my periods. I have other reasons for having a hysterectomy but the biggest one is to end the interest in sex. I hate ovulating as biologically and physiologically it's what happens to make babies, but I have two kids and am done. I have not had sex for 6 years, and have no interest ever. I want to stop the urges as it's a damn trigger. Hate how it feels and want it to end. Any experiences with a hysterectomy? Has it helped rid of sexual interest? Is it worth waiting for menopause? I am 45. Thanks

If you need one for a medical reason than the answer is yes. If this is purely for periods and sexual interest then...no? My mom had one and she dates and has sex. Nothing changed that.

I agree, having your womb out isn’t going to stop the hormones...maybe chat to your doc?

I’m in Australia so not sure but I’m on a Mireya and I don’t get periods

I had my hysterectomy at age 31 due to fibroids and cancer, so it was medically necessary, they left my ovaries in hopes to not fling me into menopause, nope ovaries quit functioning, so that part sucks.

It’s a major surgery that comes with many risks.

Please take your time and do research

Doctors typically will not perform one unless it’s medically necessary.

In my experience hysterectomy does not stop sexual urges at all. Furthermore, no licensed and ethical doctor will perform a hysterectomy just because a woman wants one (without medical necessity). There are valid reasons for that. My hope is that you'll speak with your gyn.

menopause doesn't stop sexual urges either
sounds like you need a way to de-trigger the feelings----
