He says pregnancy at my age is too high risk. And that he recommends an iud. He sees woman my age pregnant and it's very risky.
The guy I'm seeing doesn't want kids and will choose not to have sex to avoid them so I don't necessarily have to get one. But we all know I want sex so I'm thinking about it. I have til my next period to decide. Should be about a week. I met with the doctor and said I would get one he said I had to come in at my next period to be sure I wasn't already pregnant. I used condoms. Anyway I'm half decided, I had some issues with it in the past. I just like being normal. God hasn't gotten me pregnant with my ex boyfriend we tried so I really think the odds are against it but current guy won't take a risk. Even though he says it would be my problem. He'll be dead. He's 57 to my 45. __________________ Son: 14, 12/15/2009 R.I.P. Daughter: 20 Diagnosis: Bipolar with Psychosis. Latuda 100 mgs. |

Hey @Aviza: Since you speak of wanting and having sex, even unprotected you need some form of permanent birth control. There is always the implant if you want it. You just said your rent went up so you could never afford a child and the guys you date will not stay with you just because you get pregnant.

I'm determined to get tubal ligation, as I don't want kids, but need to go off the pill as I'm an older, overweight smoker, which makes me a stroke risk if I keep taking it now I'm in my late 30s.
I have been offered IUDs numerous times, but several friends had them & experienced complications, so I've decided not to get one. I'd advise reading up on the possible adverse effects of them, & speaking to your doctor about any concerns, before going ahead with this. I wish my boyfriend would get a vasectomy - it's way less invasive than tubal ligation, but alas, you know how precious boys are about the family jewels... he pales at the very idea of it! |

Well I got the IUD. I decided to try it again. It's awful getting it placed but now I feel good. I even prayed during the insert because he was having trouble. No post cramping really happy with the decision so far.

I’d still use condoms. You don’t know this guy well enough. Plus I’d not sleep with a guy if I only see him once a week. It’s way too early and you want to spend that precious time getting to know him, not having sex

I'm finally too old to have to worry about contraception, but my daughter has an IUD and loves it!
