Hi,

This isn't just related for woman but I'm just looking for reassurance if I'm being honest.

Background history (briefly)

Been having pains in my head.... my whole head (forehead killing me, base of skull throbbing and pulsating then travelling up my head). When I lie down in bed on a pillow my head pulses and throws continuously and hurts when I lie on my back and either side I couldn't lift my head off the pillow without excruciating pain. Pain is affecting my eyes and I wear glasses

Been feeling sick continuously

Been continuously dizzy

Blur vision since 5th

High blood pressure (it's been sitting at anything from 171 over 103 up to 201 over 170)

I eventually ended up at hospital last Wed. Due to the fact when I finally got an emergency appt to see a GP my blood pressure was sitting at 196/123. It was straight to hospital for me. I got tests they really did a lot for me (blood pressure took continuously throughout the 6.5 hours I was in. Sitting/standing and lying down. Blood tests done. Urine samples x 2. Heart rate and temperature took continuously. ECG. I was given a physical too. Eventually I was given a CT scan

Results

I have a small lesion on my brain. I need to have an MRI scan as an outpatient as it's not serious. If this doesn't show anything. I will need a lumbar puncture and to see a Neurologist. I need to get a blood pressure home monitoring machine which I had for 5 days and they will be assessed as I see a GP on Mon (10th). I need to do another urine test on Mon too.

Me

I'm really worried as I know I probably shouldn't have googled it but I need to know what's going on. It says the lesion on the brain can be MS, a tumour both serious and benign a few other things too. My issue is I live alone and my family history consists of high blood pressure, stroke and heart attack.

Any thoughts or wise words of wisdom. I'm pretty scared. I've only just turned 35. My head is all the what if's.

I am so sorry that you enduring all this, Miss Laura.

If it was happening to me, I would be so scared.

Your health is very important. I may be wrong, but I think that when one is facing potentially or actually serious medical conditions, that one ought to seek a 2nd or even a 2nd and 3rd medical opinion. I hope EVERYTHING works out for you ! ! !

Thank you, I'm really annoyed as a so called friend has literally said it's nothing major. Seriously. Am I talking to a brick wall. I pretty much went mental at her. I told her this could potentially be serious. My symptoms can be related to a number of things including MS, benign and non benign cancers, heart attacks and strokes.

I currently am awaiting I think meds for my blood pressure I'm guessing I'll be put on them as it's so high. But until then I'm in limbo. I at high risk for heart attacks and strokes. The fact it runs in my immediate family I'm really scared.

I'm seeing my GP on Monday so hopefully he can clarify things. I'm experiencing more pins and needles now in my left foot and my right fingers. Also I have shooting pains in my legs from my knees down and both my arms.

@Miss Laura sorry to hear about your CT scan results.

Definitely don't rely on this friend for any emotional support in the future related to your brain lesion. She sounds like a horrible friend to dismiss your concern so easily.

I have two TBI's (traumatic brain injuries) from previous car accidents. I worry about temporal lobe dementia all the time. I have learned over the years not to discuss my anxiety about my TBI's with anyone in my family (my sister's response when I told her I also had NAFLD, "you don't look sick." <-- totally dismissive response).

I found some info online about brain tumors.

If I were you, I'd get the surgery to have the lesion removed. A childhood friend of mine has a brain lesion but she refuses to have the surgery so she takes corticosteroids to keep the lesion's swelling down b/c if she doesn't, then it will continue to grow since she refuses to have it removed. Do NOT let the neurologist talk you into radiation therapy or chemotherapy. Do not do that. It will destroy your immune system. If push comes to shove, just get the brain surgery or take the prescribed corticosteroids and/or antibiotics. Don't let them convince you to put that poisonous chemotherapy crap into your body. Tell them, "Look, either cut this bastard lesion out, or give me drugs that will prevent it from growing."

I'm sorry you have to go through this. Feel free to PM me if you need to. I love to talk about neurology and the brain. Hang in there. *hugs*
