So I have entered a sexual relationship after 8 years of being celibate. We had rough sex but thats not unusual for me and he is actually smaller than my previous partner. I have been having spotting only when I urinate. Just a couole of spots of bright red every time I wipe after urination. I can tell it's coming from my vagina though. Of course I called my doctor. They said you have to be seen after I explained everything 😞. Sorry for all the personal details. What could this be? The condom did not break so I am not pregnant. I'm not due for my period for another week. The spotting has been happening everyday since I had sex which was last Wednesday. I am 43. Also this was the fourth time we had sex. All times were fairly rough. TIA

I'm marking this as triggering just in case

Have you ever had your hormones checked? When is the last time you saw an obgyn? i started perimenopause at age 40 and now at 45 am in official menopause. It can cause dryness and sometimes pain. My doctor said because of the body not lubricating as well that you can actually get micro tears in the vagina that could cause spotting. I think you should see your doctor.

I haven't been to the gyn for a 1 1/2 years. They said they only need to see my every two years. I made a appt for April 2nd. One thing I am curious about too is they said I had a abnormal pap smear but weren't worried🤔

You've done right thing in booking appointment. As for the abnormal smear, they should have talked to you about this.

It's possible you have tears, although could be endometrial polyps. I've had these twice. Well after periods finished, so knew it wasn't right. Removed by two different consultants, who couldn't give an explanation of why they occur. Not even blaming on the menopause.

Not wishing to go into too much detail, I do try and keep things "down there" as lubricated as possible. Don't have partner at the moment (still hopeful, lol!). Okay, some of us may need help from lube, but I've also heard drinking plenty of water helps.
