I’m constantly needing to wax AND tweeze my upper lip hair as it grows back within two to three days! The hair at the ends are often thick & coarse, ugh! I have PCOS.

I have light skin & black facial hair. Does anyone else have this issue? I need to use a magnifying mirror to get all the little hairs that grow back almost right away or I’ll end up with stubble on my face!

Is this normal or not?

Yes I have it my whole life. I assume it’s normal

My skin is not very light. Olive tint maybe. But I have black brows and eye lashes and black facial/body hair. Not only it’s all black. I have a ton of it and it grows fast. Weird all together lol

I wax my lip and bottom of my chin and eye brows. Lately the person who waxes my lip has been seriously unwell and I don’t trust other people. So I pluck it. Every few days

I do not have POS or hormonal issues. For me it’s just how we are. Genetics.

Things we have to put up with lol

It’s good to know it’s not just me then! I was schocked & disgusted when I took a 20x magnifed mirror out into the backyard & saw a bunch of hair on my upper lip 2 days after getting it waxed! I normally am good with keeping things clean, but I forgot to check things this time

I went out in public with a mustache again! Ugh. I’m very near sighted, so I didn’t notice that until then. So embarrassing!

It took awhile to pluck all those little suckers out! Men are lucky that it’s fine for them to have stubble. Us, not so much, lol.

IPL: Silk·expert Pro 5 in Gold | Braun US. (I bought mine on EBAY at a discount) will be your friend. It is very easy to use and does not take much time at all. Do it now while your hair is dark. Once your hair gets grey, IPL will not work anymore. So it is sort of an ASAP business for someone in her 50s.

Yeah, I have the same problem although mine is more on my chin. Thick black hair. I have to pluck almost daily.

It's been brutal since hitting menopause.

Have you considered going on estradiol? I went on it while premenopausal, at 51, and this was one of my many arguments in favor of it, besides bone health: my late grandmother had a lot of grey hair on her chin and I hope to avoid it.

Since your hair is black, the IPL will work for you. It does not work on grey hair. But do not pluck before zapping it with IPL. Just cut really close to the surface of the skin. The zapper needs to see the tip of the hair. IPL is very gentle and has been recommended by my dermatologist, albeit I consulted with him regarding what little hair is left in my armpits after laser and electrolysis. I am very happy with the IPL. It is super quick to use and you only need it once a week. Several minutes total, just once a week.

I believe that threading (this old Indian form of of beauty care) can help. I do only brow threading because, for now at least, I very rarely have issues with facial hair, but I have heard of threading applied to facial hair. Maybe read this? Threading… the perfect way to eliminate unwanted hair | V for Hair & Beauty / Vj Barbers.

Brow threading is not painful. I have been doing it for over 10 years. You just are not supposed to put Retin-A on the area to be threaded for a couple of days prior to and post procedure.

I suspect your facial hair has to be long to get it threaded--and if does, I don't want to do that.

It won’t catch into a thread if it’s just a stub, not long enough. It would have to be like at least the length your eye brows are. It’s like full blown beard and mustache at that point. If If I had the kind of long hair on my face, I’d go see a professional.

Ah, I see. Regarding seeing a professional, electrolysis is very effective, but it requires many visits. Almost all of my underarm hair is gone thanks to electrolysis, and what little remains is responsive to IPL, so I am hopefully that eventually I will have none. It took a couple of years of electrolysis, though, but the visits were not frequent. During that time, I had some occasional hair on the neck and upper lip and electrolysis in those areas is not painful. In the underarm area, it is painful.

Same here. It's due to the non-production of estrogen. It kept our hair shiny, our skin soft, and our bones healthy.

True, it's not fair. It's considered sexy in some cases; I remember Don Johnson on Miami Vice, lol. It looked good on him though, not the case with all men.

Same here. I might qualify as a moustached lady at the circus. I don't want to do anything that hurts nor spend money on something like electrolysis or even waxing. I know your hair has to be long for waxing, definitely. It's a pain to shave but it's cheap and fast.

But I have to do it on my underarms, legs as well as on my fingers and toes! Dark, long hairs growing above the knuckles on my fingers and on my toes in a similar area. Men can get away with not shaving. In 2020 when everything was closed and I didn't go anywhere, I hardly shaved. I waited until I couldn't stand it anymore, feeling like an ape woman.

Now I try to keep up, mainly because it just seems gross....all this dark hair. It grows fast and dark, and they seem to grow in more coarse than before, which is supposed to be a myth. Not for me.

I also have these persistent, dark hairs growing at the corners of my mouth. I have to pluck them almost daily, as it's hard to get the razor at the right angle for that. It hurts to do it but I can't stand that they grow back so fast.

Years ago I tried to bleach the upper lip. I was appalled to notice that in certain lighting, I merely had a white moustache!!!! How embarrassing! I had to let it grow long enough to do that.

Now I have to shave like a man.

I guess that's an advantage of being a natural blond. I really don't have any noticeable facial hairs.

I hear you! Except for me, I was appalled to find out that I had a gross bkack mustache when I first looked into a magnifying mirror at Brookstone, that old gadget store in the mall.

I was like, omg! Wth? I look like a man up close, lol! Why did no one ever say anything to me about that? Not even my critical nag mom or my brat sister ever said anything to me!

Eeewww!!!! I then started using hair removal cream & then started shaving the rest daily.

Oh I remember that store, Brookstone. They had good stuff.

Since I'm near sighted I have to really look CLOSELY at the area daily because I could miss those little hairs. When I once tried to use that Nair stuff or maybe it was Sally Hansen hair removal cream, not only did it not work but I got a rash! I returned it and got a refund.

A bit off topic but my eyebrows are also unruly, with more and more coarse gray hairs I have to pluck. I didn't have any of this trouble until I got into my 50's I think?

Men can get away with stubble. They can also get away with going shirtless in in public during hot weather, but for US it would be "indecent". But that's another thread.
