Thank goodness I was happily scheduled for my exam next month. |

Mine is due to be done in two weeks. I do wonder what the knock on effect will be for people waiting for elective surgeries. Extended pain times and the possibility of a condition getting worse. I am not overly fussed about getting a colonoscopy delayed but just wonder when the hospitals can get back to normal.

I am going to be pro-active about getting my yearly mammogram in September, covid be damned. My sister died of breast cancer.
As for elective surgery...first of all, I really wish medicine would use a different term than "elective." Surgery is surgery and truthfully, all surgery is elective. I was scheduled to have my achilles tendon surgery on April 7th. I had been in fierce pain with it for 2 years. Of course, my surgery was cancelled in April. By mid-May covid in Calif had calmed quite a bit. I used the opportunity to really push for my surgery. Surprisingly, my surgery was scheduled last-minute and I had the surgery on May 28th. I was very lucky, because I'm pretty sure "elective" surgeries are not being prioritized now. I wonder how many people are suffering and dying not only from covid itself, but from our terribly poorly-prepared health care system (in the U.S.). __________________ |

My physical this year was done by telemedicine. Useless right? So I asked my doctor when I could get my blood pressure taken and and goes... oh you can buy a machine at home. Excuse me? Then what do I need you for? Even now she hasn't given me a date and time for that. I am going in a few weeks to have a cardiac calcium scan but only because she was pushing statins on me. I used to like my doctor but I am getting angry with her. |

If it's bothering you I suggest you bring it up with your doctor. It's very possible that she doesn't even realize she's not prioritizing you. btw, I was told the same BS about a blood pressure check. I said No, I want to come in. I refuse to do medical stuff by telehealth, except pdoc and therapy - which is annoying enough. __________________ |

You wouldn't mind but my state is down to about 150 new cases a day and less than 10 deaths. My employer has us at home but they made it clear it was mostly because people didn't have child or elder parent care. |
