I had an interview for a content writer position for a publication two weeks ago. The interview went relatively well. I made my portfolio with the articles that I have written for my college's newspaper (I'm a college student right now) for him to look at. I did that to be prepared and he took his time to read the articles. I want to feel confident the interview went well but they told me that they are going to interview 2 other people. Usually, when employers say that they are going to interview more people, that is a sign I'm not getting the job.
The day after the interview, I emailed my interview follow up that morning. Then last week I emailed them a question I had about the job since they said I could do that. They answered it and acknowledged my interview follow up as well. They also that they would let me know of the outcome later on but did not specify when. It is approaching 3 weeks since the interview. I am indecisive if I should check in and email them about their decision. I already reached out to them twice after the interview, not sure if should do it again for the third time. I feel inclined to do so but I am unsure. |

It sounds like you really want the job. I don’t think it would hurt to reach out. I think I would if I was really hopeful about getting the job.

I would say give it another week, then contact them to check in.
I only advise that since you emailed them once the first week, directly following the interview, then again last week and they answered your question. They have other interviews, which can take a few weeks. To email them again this week may seem a bit too eager and desperate. So if it were me, I would give them some breathing room and wait another week or so. Then you can check in and say you're just touching base on their interview process and the status of your application. Just my own thoughts! Best of luck to you and I hope you get the job!! __________________ "Twenty-five years and my life is still trying to get up that great big hill of hope for a destination" ~4 Non Blondes |

I would definitely follow up. It serves a couple purposes:
a) it lets them know you are still interested b) it might give them a nudge if they are slow during the hiring process c) it keeps your name fresh I would end with something like "In the event I was not the successful candidate at this time I would be interested in discussing future opportunities with me. I was impressed with (and then interested some things you like about the company). |
