A coworker quit on the spot today. But she had only told me and one other person and she told us last week. She didn’t tell the managers. And we had brought food in for her today as a small going away party We had bags of food and no one said anything when we walked in with them. But she just announced at the meeting that she was quitting. The manager got so mad he walked out of the room. The other one was more professional, but you could tell by her face she was steaming. I’m just worried based on the fact that I knew a week before the managers did, and I had brought in food (even though that wasn’t my idea) that I could possibly get into trouble. I just felt like it wasn’t my business or my place to tell the managers. Plus I’m not going to throw someone under the bus just to kiss the managers asses and stay on their good side. I’m not a shady person. I’m just wondering how to handle the situation if it comes up.

If they ask you, just say you thought she had given notice and that you had no idea she hadn't told them. It was in NO way your responsibility to tell them, and shame on her for putting you in that awkward situation.

Yeah these coworkers can be pretty manipulative. Not to mention the whole goodbye party thing was filmed on a phone and put on Facebook. I was then tagged on it. I look really awkward and uncomfortable in the video. I wish she hadn’t done that. Luckily none of her Facebook friends seem to care about the video. And none of my Facebook friends can see it. Or that would have been really bad since she discloses where we work.

Her dumb video caused so much anxiety and more paranoia then I’ve ever dealt with. I temporarily deactivated my Facebook account for my own sanity. I’m literally thinking of activating it again after Labor Day. That’s how badly I got freaked out over this. I’m being evaluated for possible paranoid personality disorder. So that makes sense why this video has gotten me spooked so badly.

Can you unfriend her? She doesn't really sound like a friend. Just an acquaintance.

The thing is I think she legit thinks we are friends. Her tagging was just thanking me and a couple other people for making her last day so special. Basically I’m the one being a jerk. If I deleted her I think it would truly hurt her feelings. Deactivating my Facebook for awhile was the best choice for me.
