I most certainly have tremendous pride in my job and yes I certainly love it and yes I like most of coworkers, we are a great team. I make a difference every day and it is something. Saying that, I’ve been working a long time and am quite tired. But I am not ready to retire, can’t afford it yet and am too young.. So I do enjoy my time off too.

I really love what I do. I do my best because that is what I believe in. I really love most of the people I work with. Though I do happen to work with/for someone who is hypercritical, and uses criticism and unclear expectations as a way to control others. I and my colleagues are getting support from this person's higher ups, but this person has been with the company so long they cannot get rid of them.

Wow, that person you describe sounds like my boss, Tired Pilgrim, right down to the fact that it would be hard to get rid of her since she's been there forever. Sadly the higher ups don't have anyone's back either.

I was in that position, too, until there was a shake up in upper management. When the shake up happened, I was a hairs width away from quitting - after 10 odd years - because, ironically enough, I was getting closer and closer to what 'healthy' should look like. As long as I was in unhealthy thinking patterns, I could work with/for this person. Quitting was not an easy choice to make - literally the day or two before I would have turned in my resignation, the higher up in question had a heart to heart with me that gave me the strength to keep going. How he knew I was so close to quitting, I will never fathom, because I kept my mouth shut and my head down. It is a hard decision to make. Doing what is healthiest is rarely an easy choice, and all to often it is a 'choice' many of us do not have the relative luxury to make, especially in an economy where you can work full time for more than minimum wage and still be under the poverty line. __________________ 'Religion is for people who are afraid of going to Hell.
