so much negativity. .does anyone here like their job? their coworkers? take pride in their work?

i had a long career at a position for which i took great pride in. worked there for 18 years until i had to retire due to disability .some of the folks i worked with were the best people on the planet, others, were some of the worst...

not every day or job assignment will be enjoyable at times everyone gets stuck with assignments that are a suck ..good for the company, but not for you. if you work outside, weather can be too hot, cold, rainy, etc.

so , does anyone feel some sense of pride in their work?..

I take a great deal of pride in my work. This means I have a really hard time working with those who don’t care and who pass their work onto others. I had to work in a terrible environment for several years and I had a really hard time with it. Recently I’ve transferred to a location where there seems to be more team work and professionalism. I’m really, really hoping this lasts because I can be happy at a job where there is accountability and people take pride in their work.

I love my job and take a great deal of pride in it. Doesn't mean there aren't stressors or that I don't ever need to vent on it.

I like my job and take some pride in my work, although some of it I feel is too easy. I really like the company I work for and my coworkers. That is more important to me than the work itself. It also pays the bills, which is important.

I'm glad you stayed 18 years with a single company. The longest I've worked for a single employer is 5.5 years. And at every job I've ever had, I never received a promotion. I've always been non management employee.

I like my job though. I just wish I'm not inclined to obsess over any given person at work. It creeps ppl out.

It’s better than my other jobs. It’s not all that anxiety provoking. I guess it just puts bread on the table. I am considered one of the “favorites.” So I get a lot of hours. Some of my coworkers only work one day because they want them to quit. Also a couple other coworkers and myself can do stuff that doesn’t affect us while other coworkers do the same things and get in trouble for them. A girl went to the bathroom and literally got called into the office for it. Some of us use it 3 times a day and nothing happens. I guess since I’m not actively doing anything wrong the job doesn’t bother me.

I like my coworkers. The job itself is incredibly boring. I used to care about the work I did but since the company makes it obvious THEY don't care about our work, my motivation has gone down a lot.

No. Managers treat people like crap.
Big boss is the same.

Big boss is creepy. He watch me pee and criticize me how I should blow my nose. It seems I can wash my face and blow my nose under water tap.

sito, again just curious, how does he do this..doesn't bathroom door have locks? I would assume Canada has protection against this. he may be creepy but you are entitled against that kind of creepy...for that I would go to police or higher management. that is illegal regardless of what ever nation you are in. the nose blowing thing I would just ignore because he sounds like an ***...but bathroom observations....no way.

My company is pretty good. They give us some nice perks and treat us more decently than a lot of other companies in this country. The work has its interesting aspects and I like being able to work from home.

That said, my main issues are my boss and the people she has been hiring lately I could write a book about that, but don't really have time at the moment. A few of my threads here talk about the main issue, but basically my boss operates on favoritism towards those who kiss her *** and there's a lot of catty backstabbing.

sadly it seems that occurs in most companies..regardless of how hard management tries to avoid it...there are some employees who work harder & tow the company line better & some who bosses just mesh better with....as a former supervisor I have to say I am guilty of it myself. I tried hard to not show favorites because that only comes back to bite you...at times no matter how hard you try to be fair to everyone it appears that you are showing favoritism..some employees have a different skill set that works better for some jobs and tend to get leaned on more often...either way it can result in what seems like an unfair workplace.

I like aspects of my job, but there are aspects I don't like. I'm a hardworker, and do my best everyday.

There is no locks. The boss is overstepping himself into personal area. Bathroom is a place for me to was my face, brush my teeth, and to pee.

He thinks bathroom is like his personal domain.

I like this job better than I have liked one in a while. I am starting to break the ice with co-workers, and my work is getting noticed by upper management (which, I don't really care about, but at least they're seeing some value in what I do). I have a decent amount of autonomy, and I'm setting the processes and procedures for my niche in data analysis/metrics. I'm still not doing my dream job - taking over for James Corden for Carpool Karaoke - but, who knows, maybe some day!

sito have you asked him for locks on the bathroom door? there must be a code in Canada's work laws that require a locking bathroom door for privacy & safety.
a solution might be to have someone go in there with you and stand guard or have them be outside....that might serve to deter him. but I would ask/tell him to please stay away...

maybe he doesn't realize how creepy he is...

& sorry but bathroom is his personal domain if he owns company so you just have to figure out a way to get him to realize that people need space/privacy..it could be in the past people have stolen stuff and brought it into the bathroom...etc. but I would talk to him..or see if he follows everyone I to the bathroom and then write a group letter with everyone's signature on it & give it to him saying we all are asking for a lock on the door for a sense of privacy.

if everyone signs it will he fire everyone? surely everyone there must be bothered by his annoying inappropriateness regarding the bathroom
