some professions must post their salaries (state, gov't jobs), others post their salaries when they announce openings. others will tell you what they pay. many times salary range is pretty common knowledge to personnel offices, especially for similar companies. now salaries are not the big hidden secret they used to be

I imagine you would have to ask them if you are wondering about a specific company.

as I said in most hiring announcements salaries are posted so it would be easy to compare what the going offers are out there. government salaries must be available to the public.

I am sure there is a way to factor in employment history, education, skillset, etc to get the salary for the position needed. some positions require hs degrees, other some college, other BA's , MA's & advanced degrees..that would involve higher salaries. increased skill training would increase salary as well. there ar emany factors that could be plugged in to a position to arrive at a competing salary..management and personnel would have all of those available to them

factors such as :
education : hs, aa, ba, ma, phd degrees
languages spoken : English, French, Spanish, etc
skillset: computer skills
advanced training: any advanced or specialized training you have that places you above other applicants or is need for the position
ability to travel
etc
