This the last part I need and my resume will be completed. I googled actvities examples for resume and found this:

"Activities including clubs, membership organizations, hobbies, and interests that show leadership, technical skills, community involvement, or team-playing capabilities may enhance your candidacy with an admissions director or hiring manager. In such cases, it’s smart to use extracurricular activities to your advantage by including information that will highlight the important skills you have learned and applied."

I have worked the hardest at these two things while being on disability: my mental health, improving my writing and my blogging.

Ok, so being a mental health blogger, I have been sober for over 11 years now. I need to present that in the best light possible because that is where my focus is. It is also where I have the most experience. And, I am an active member here at Psych Central for almost two years now.

I write three blogs :

InspireBullyStop.com

MyViciousPsychpathMother.com

RecoveryinBalance.HOW

I am always moving boards and articles around to see how they look in different places. And to see how I feel about them in a different place on my blogs. I write about my firsthand experiences with the rawest and clearest wording I know. I want people to see they aren't alone and there is hope.

I also make beaded jewelry and do some crocheting. I can sew simple straight lines, LOL And I love to experiment with polymer clay and paint.

I blog daily on what I am grateful for and the joy and laughter page. I am good at making people laugh and making what I am doing fun.

Ideas? Feedback? Jokes? I'll take anything ya got!

Hi HappyCrafter,

I have always included an activities (or "Other Skills and Interests") section to my resumes. Not only are they a great way to share a little bit about your personality, but also very worthy accomplishments beyond a job. I'm glad you plan to include such information. Definitely if you have been passionate about jewelry making and crocheting, etc., I see that as worthy. It would trigger to me that you are creative and have patience to see long projects to completion. Mentioning humor is always attractive, too.

I also have a blog. When you put a great deal of effort into one, I think it's almost, or even more, worthy of attention than some jobs. I think a blog is especially worthy for sharing in a resume if it is more than just a journal entry place. Sharing learned experience/reflections, stories, research articles, creative entries, and others say a lot about your abilities, not to mention your writing skills and writing passion.

If there are blog posts you'd rather not share with a prospective employer, I don't see why you have to include the blog address. You can summarize the blog's content, the number of posts (over a period of time), the number of followers or average daily hits, and things like that. Or if you want to share the address, you can always do that. If writing skills are what you want to flaunt, writing samples can also be offered, upon request. By the address names alone, your InspireBullyStop and RecoveryinBalance blogs would definitely pique my interest. I'd probably want more of an explanation for the MyVisciousPsychpathMother one.

It's up to you, but I don't think I'd mention being an online forum member. If you were a facilitator/moderator/article contributor/fundraiser for one, that would seem different, to me. Such would be volunteer type jobs, and all volunteer jobs have a place in a resume. Knowing another language, like Spanish, is a hugely beneficial skill.
