It seems like the best thing to do with my life would be to pursue a teaching career. It matches my personality and lifestyle. I have a need to wear what I want, not be out late at night or work graveyard shifts, I need breaks (spring break, summer vacation, weekends) and teaching would provide me all of that. Also, I like kids/teens/young people.

But I also have so many other interests that I'd like to do something with... botany, cultural anthropology, film, fashion, acting... should those just stay hobbies and special interests? There's just so much I still want to learn and I'm already down the English road, about to get my AA degree. I was kind of pushed into it by my mom because I have dyscalculia and English/literature/language is the opposite of math, so that happened... and I do see myself teaching and that being a fulfilling career, but it still leaves things unfulfilled. I don't know how to process that. What else can I do with those if I make up my mind and choose a elementary/middle school teaching destiny?

Do I minor in one of these when I transfer from my community college to a University?

you do know many teachers have to work summer school? and there are certain professional dress codes..

you apply to transfer to a school which has an education major. if accepted then you begin the process...you decide if elementary school, foreign language etc is your choice. there is math involved because all grade levels involve math as a topic of learning. depending on your credits now it may take 2 -3 years at another school to obtain a bachelors degree and teaching certificate. it also involves student teaching and time spent in front of classes.

I know that. I plan on transferring to a University for my bachelor's degree, etc. Of course I know I can't wear daisy dukes, but for the love of all things sacred, I'm sick to death of uniforms and silly hats and I need a change. I'm going to start tutoring and being a teachers' assistant this fall, so I'm pretty excited. My aunt's been an elementary teacher all her life and that's what I want to do.

I just don't know what to do with the rest of my interests. Side projects? Pick one minor? Let it all go and be thankful I found something that suits me?
