Hi, I decided to post here in spite of my initial hesitations because I'm not sure what else to really do, any and all advice would be helpful (but please no platitudes).

I'm 25 and I have been unemployed for 4 years now mostly because I have no actual skills other than cooking. I've always suffered from an extreme social anxiety that I've consistently tried to get help with but with no avail, and I am in urgent need of living wages as my current living conditions right now are harming my mental health more than they are benefiting. I'm trying to finish my education in a community college in hopes of studying psychology in a 4-year, but being unemployed makes it generally hard to even do that because I downward spiral and become unable to normally function everyday to study, take exams, etc. I feel like perhaps if I start first by finding employment, itll take care of my other problems. Given all of this, what should I do? I've tried for several employment opportunities in general retail, but I probably come off too anxious and my work gap is extensive and it is really degrading to try this many times with no avail.

Thank you for your help

What was your previous job and how long was it? What led to the unemployment?

Could you talk to employment agency? If you can cook perhaps they can help you with finding job in that field

How about a temp agency? You can build your work history and only have to work someplace on a temporary basis. Jobs usually are like receptionist or clerk etc. You might have to take a typing test. But they may have something for you.
