I currently work part time, am on disability. And was talking with my mom last night about my job issues, she suggested I get back into my old field part time. But the full time job pays about double what I'm making and it's really appealing to me.
I could stay in my apartment, just go to market rate. But I don't know if I could really handle the stress. The rat race again. It would allow me to repay my debt faster, my car though is an issue. And now my credit is bad can't afford a new one yet. Therapy tomorrow. I honestly don't know if I should give up disability, really it's the insurance issue. I suppose I'm on medicare I always will be as long as I pay it. Mom says to apply there's no guarantee I'd even get the job. __________________ Son: 14, 12/15/2009 R.I.P. Sounds like good fodder for work in therapy. Only you can decide in the end. ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((hug))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
I guess one thought I have is----if you return full time and it is too much for you would you be able to cut back or get accommodations at work (ADA) that would be effective? And, does the full time include insurance and benefits that would help? That it is is appealing to you is a positive sign, I think, even if you decide you are not ready. Your mom has a point----and you could turn the job down if you got it and decided you were not ready.... (I always think it is nice to know you have choices... also, think about how you might feel if you did not get the job...is that OK...) Talk talk talk....think...list pros and cons....be honest with yourself.... __________________ "...don't say Home / the bones of that word mend slowly...' marie harris |

I decided to wait until Jan before applying to full-time jobs, because I'm 3 months away from having my student loans forgiven. I need to stay below the poverty line for that to happen, has in year 1 and 2, I'm on year 3 with 3 months to go. So for now I'll hold off, and work on it in therapy.

Disability has a “ ticket to work program” it allows for roughly 9 months? ( But I’m sure there are possible income limits) to work fulltime while still receiving your monthly disability check. It’s a way to find out if your able to work fulltime.
You can find more specific info about on SS website. __________________ Helping others gets me out of my own head ~ |

Yeah I'm not 100% sure I could handle the stress, the politics, etc. I just want to pay my debts off faster, and doing what I'm doing isn't going to cut it.
