I had to do that, and then I decided that LinkedIn is just another social media site (not all professionals are on there), so I deleted my entire account. Problem solved then, now, and in the future.

The point is, what you do think about the move? Do you think your boss will notice? Will that move make matters more challenging at work, if you are your boss are on close terms? Do you think your co-workers will notice and therefore create tension in the office, including divisions? Would it be easier for you to just delete your LinkedIn account altogether? What is best for you? -Only you can answer these questions.

The point is how you feel about your actions, and if you feel it helps you.

I've done it to a couple of previous bosses. I don't really care what they think. I don't want to see their stuff, and I don't want/need their connection.

Technically speaking...

I actually already blocked her. We were never connected on LinkedIn. So maybe she wouldn't notice. She is not tech savvy at all and has previously said she doesn't do social media.

I actually now work at a sister company to the one I left. They are owned by the same parent company. I do want to move up.

Would that change the answers I’ve gotten?

I'm thinking now that I should unblock her, but then she would see that I visited her page, right? I am on private mode.

If she did see that I visited her page, I think the only option would be then to delete my account since I don't want her to see my profile.

Deleting my account would be hard since it's great to see people's work histories, how they got to certain places. And I would lose the few connections I do have from that old place.

I assume private mode would protect me from her seeing who viewed and blocked and then viewed her profile again (to unblock her). I think she would just see that an "anonymous linked member" viewed her profile, right?

Good move.

I just did that to my abusive ex boss who called me so many slurs, and said so many bigoted things to me. Some countries would class what he did to be hate speech and workplace harassment.

If you're in a sister company but it's not the same company, I still wouldn't care. It's a social network; you're free to do with it as you please. She probably doesn't even notice, especially if you weren't even connected before you blocked her.

I also wouldn't worry about it and she's not even going to be able to notice, anyway.

I have no idea. I don't use linked in. Reading this just made me think " man, these platforms make things harder for us in real life. What a bummer." Sorry I could not be more help. Maybe since she is not tech savvy she won't notice or it just won't be a big deal if she saw you looked at her page.

I have blocked several coworkers from Social Media and Linked. There are two more that is in the future.

I don't know why they make their coworkers cry, quit, or get fired. Not all people get fired because they deserve it. A lot of it involves personal differences and lack of proper communication channels. Then again, I told one boss she was abusive because she kept degrading me. I finally ended up quitting.
