I was told to smile more and create a warm atmosphere for my students. lol, this company makes me laugh! I realize that smiling does not cost me anything. So, I practiced smiling in front of the camera for a bit yesterday. Boy, I'm beautiful when I smile, just kidding! Anyways, the advice the manager gave me made me want to crack up!! There were some other good points though. But, I still like my job. I just have to work a little harder at preparing my lessons.

I'm doing well. The advice the manager gave me is helping me. I am trying to practice to smile more. lol, what a life!! But, seriously, I'm putting more time and effort into preparing my lesson besides just smiling more. I feel great. So far, no student is complaining.

I got all of my work done for yesterday, then also did some prep work for this week's classes. I am doing fine. I also did someone a favor by writing a certificate for them. I feel great!

The hard project I had worked for almost a month is finally done. There will be revision, of course, but it is done for now!
And also, my side job is also done. Last edited by Turtle_Rider; Jun 26, 2020 at 10:09 PM.. |

I like my job as a teacher!! I am happy!! The work load is not easy but I really like my students. Out of class, I am always doing prep work. I try to do my prep work way before hand. I don't get paid much but really like teaching. I feel grateful!! I am doing what I like and getting paid for it.

Had a challenging day with a client yesterday because she is unclear with her requests. I am not sure how long term beyond the end of the year I intend to work with her, because it seems like no matter what I do, she finds a new way to make things unworkable. However, I participated in my leadership course this morning and discovered some ways I can be with this, and words I can use to address the situation and maintain my integrity. I was pretty triggered and upset by it yesterday, but it's always good to go back to the basics and look at things objectively and figure out what I can do to address a situation, if I'm willing to do that thing, and what the next step is. This client has been very bad about making specific requests for years that I've worked with her, and I know that, it's not a surprise, and so I have decided that she will not be off the hook in a meeting until she makes very clear what it is she wants and by when. Otherwise I'm tired of getting early morning emails about how I was supposed to send her something already that her previous communication said was needed the following week. There is a workability issue, and I think I've identified what it is, and that's good, and so we will address it. And hopefully that will ease up some tensions and anxiety, until the next workability issue presents itself. So I'm counting this a win right now.

Was she unclear? Yes. I also know she was being unclear. And I didn't say anything. I talked to her operations manager yesterday and we agreed to take some strategies together in meetings to make sure all tasks and deadlines are 100% clear. __________________ What if I fall? I am very excited because I think I have possibly found a viable client in Hawai'i, and that may mean I get a business trip to Hawai'i! Not that I'm going anywhere with COVID right now. But maybe in a few months.

Okay, and besides that awesomeness from earlier, someone found me through my organic social media marketing, read my LinkedIn and my articles, and invited me to be a guest on a national radio show as a subject matter expert. WTF?! I cannot believe...I'm just speechless. A few years ago I spoke a vision into reality of what I was going to be and do. And I set to work making it reality. And look what's happening!

Cool about the radio interview. My husband did that once, he was a bit nervous at first, but seemed to enjoy it.
My freelance client has been giving me some different types of projects to work on. It's nice to have a change of pace and I also take it as a sign that they want me to stick around for a while. I don't think they would spend time helping me train on additional project types if they don't plan on continuing to send me work. |
