I am beyond stressed and terrified. I have been trying to find fulltime work ever since I graduated from college, but have only been able to get part-time jobs. I have kept my current job for a good while now and busted my butt to get to where I am financially, and all for this pandemic to ruin it. My company told me today they are going to be laying off a ton of us, and I will have nothing. And will be at a huge loss. I already look unemployable to employers from my lack of experience. I am far beyond devastated.

Oh no Selina91. I am so sorry to hear of your loss of a job. Hope you apply for unemployment if you are an employee and qualify. the government is reducing stipulations for those that qualify.

There is also a program for people to get a one time check from the government. Congress still working out the details.

Hope you find a way to navigate this difficult situation we are in.

You are not alone, Selina. Pretty much everyone I know is facing way less work or no work right now. Hopefully, at least in the US, the federal government will finally get off its ***** and do something for us--for once.

In the mean time, do what you can. Small jobs, odd jobs, temp. stuff, whatever you can locate to try to put a little money in your pocket. Now is not the time to be too proud to do anything. Just try to work if you can.

Keep at it. Don't give up. We will get through this. In the mean time, just do what you can do. Now is not the time to be worrying longterm about a big career. There will be time for that later. Just survive--for now.

you are not alone.
file for unemployment.
work on your resume while you have time.
enjoy the almost spring like weather while you have the time..go for walks, visit places outside etc. it will keep you active and get fresh air and sunshine around you.

some places are offering online courses /tours for free...take advantage of that. keep your mind active.

this will pass. you are so not alone...

Thanks, y'all. Thing is, my job is commission based, so I do not qualify for unemployment because of the possible web orders I could get. Right now, I still have my job, but they will be cutting our access to my job off soon.

I am very sorry. Google info about your state and the federal government and the bills they want to pass. Some states have already taken specific action for things like utilities, evictions, credit card and unemployment/sick leave benefit changes. I know here in NJ they have.
