I'm still going to work. There's a lot less people at my job now, as you can expect. I work in a room by myself and very distant from other people. It's always been that way. I can't work at home with what I do. I got a letter by email from the higher ups saying that I am an official "essential" worker.

It is very quiet at where I work. I have mixed feelings about it. Though it's very strange that, since a lot of people are working at home, there's more volume of work for me to do. The commuting has been nice as there's not much traffic. It takes no time to go to work and get back home.

I work nights and don't have to deal with many people, so my job isn't affected much, other than having to work a bunch of overtime due to people missing their shifts for various reasons. The only downside is my girlfriend is out of work, which is making money tighter than it was before.

I was ready to start up my new business hopefully by May and unfortunately it has been held back. I have been living with the in laws hoping I would be able to get our place faster once the business opened. I guess I will have hold my tongue a for few more months LOL.

My job has changed as i don't assist with patients unless she really can't do it herself. My boss is a chiropractor. My world hasn't changed a lot but it has changed. We take fewer patients, we clean more, but I am still working.

I'm still waiting for word that I can go back to work. There's no way I don't at least end up with a pay cut over this. It's government work and it could just get done by private companies. So I really think I'm losing my job eventually.

One of the ways has been being forced to attend meetings (online) that drag on and on and on because it would appear those scheduling them have nothing else to do. Another has been intrustion into my personal life under the guise of 'making us all feel better during this stressful time.' Yesterday was the final straw for me. The clueless organizer of this meeting demanded to know what we did in our off-hours, outside of work. One woman clearly did not want to answer. I could see the anger on her face as she just sat there. After being prompted again ("Well?!?! Tell us!!") she finally, tersely said, "Nothing. I do nothing." That wasn't good enough, and she was shrieked at to elaborate. Finally she spit out the bare bones of an answer. Good grief! My mind raced to come up with the blandest, shortest answer that would satisfy the overbearing clueless woman running this meeting, without revealing anything personal because I don't think I should have to do that and I think the organizer of the meeting is an unmitigated creep who is misusing her position to be overbearing to people who are not in a positon to object. I am deliberately leaving out some details here. When it was my turn she acted as though she did not hear clearly what I said and made fun of what she thought I'd said. There were uncomfortable titters from the rest of the attendees. I just repeated what I had said and let her ridiculous comments run out. I told a friend of mine about the meeting and he said, "If she pulls that again, asking you what you do in your personal life, say: "I drink." Too many more meetings like this last one, and I might just start doing that.

Sometimes these kinds of activities just waste time and I have seen some employees ask for this kind of thing because they want to avoid the real work that needs to be done. I am sorry that this woman was not given a pass on something so not related to getting the job done.

I vaguely recall reading somewhere that more people are drinking (and probably getting high too) on the job as they work from home. This organizer is not helping the trend.

I'm sure you are correct; and there is a significant amount of that sort of activity at this workplace under non-Covid conditions. However, I have never participated in any of it, partly because I actually do have too much work to do in a day, on a daily basis to waste time, but also because my workplace is not my social life and my boss and coworkers are not my friends. It should not be required that it become my social life. If all the woman who runs this ****show wanted was to 'waste' time, we could sit on camera and discuss business, informally. Instead she is deliberately choosing to force us to reveal our personal lives, and not just in this meeting although it was in this one where she called out that other woman. The details I have left out raise the ick factor way up. And yeah, I've already seen more than one person loaded in the various meetings I have had to attend. To go back to the ick factor--the other part of this situation that really skeeves me out is there are people who are not employees in the room with the attendees listening to every word that is spoken.

My boss e-mailed and said the chemistry section that I'm in is not coming back anytime soon. She said to e-mail the program chief to see if there was any work I could do in microbiology.

I've been furloughed until further notice.

My manager has been keeping me updated. We spoke earlier this week. I asked if I was going to lose my job. He said no, which was a huge relief. Unfortunately he told me that I shouldn't expect to be recalled until late June or early July.

Still no work for me. I had a dream that I went back and forgot how to run the instruments.

My son and sister are working from home. We are wondering if this could be permanent. Both of them have had moments of isolation and sadness.

I now feel as a key worker I was one of the lucky ones, the time I was off work did not help my mental health. As soon as I returned it improved. However everyone is different.

I am busier than ever. Yesterday I worked (with hardly a bathroom break) from 9 AM until 9 PM.

I was furious.. someone wanted something from us and sent an e-mail that said, we can do this at your convenience. (at 3:30 PM) so I assumed that would be the next day.

At 7:40-- 7:40! He e-mails and tells me he needs it tonight, AND he has a team waiting around for it.

UN - BE - LIEVABLE

I called my boss and we got it done by 9 PM.

Just no sense at all.

I'm working again now, but when I catch up with samples they might just send me home again. So I'm working slower.

My work in retail is more or less unchanged. For a while social distancing made it different but most customers have stopped doing that now - some get way too close and I have even had people touching me. I hope the new mandate to wear masks in store will help, I will see on my next shift.

I do still feel very lucky however as my job is much more stable than so many others. Although they let go of temps and have cut hours which is not good.

I lost my job this week due to COVID. But honestly? I am no longer upset. It was a toxic work environment, so it's actually for the best. I am over it. Onwards and upwards!!!
