I am soooooooo pumped right now, I can hardly contain myself.
I have applied to multiple Director level jobs since January, when I began my job search in earnest. I received a response on a couple, but they didn't work out. This last Friday, I received an interview request with a design company with big clients such as Microsoft, Starbucks, NASA and Amazon. It's for a Director level role in my field. So this would be a big promotion as I am senior level right now. It would mean a large jump in salary too. I am reading about the company, and I am getting more and more pumped and jazzed about the opportunity. I have wanted to work for a design company, and lo and behold, this is one that came along. This is the first interview, which is the initial screening with HR. I usually make it past those, so I'm not overly concerned about the 1st one. It's the second and subsequent interviews that I am most concerned with. Just as important: I am DYING to leave my current company since it has been very toxic to me. My boss is trying to undermine me and hold me back from rising in position because he fears I could take his job. It's a dead-end street there, and I must move on. Obtaining a Director level role would pretty much provide me with the vindication I desire after having dealt with such a toxic boss. This would be a much deserved and a highly desirable outcome, IF I can rise in position, leave my company and say thanks, but it's time for me to move on to better places. LOL. Please send me positive vibes about this interview process! I need to knock 'em dead and knock this one out of the park. __________________ "Twenty-five years and my life is still trying to get up that great big hill of hope for a destination" ~4 Non Blondes Last edited by Have Hope; May 17, 2020 at 01:51 PM.. |

Dear Have Hope,
What wonderful, wonderful news. Bravo! I think you will nail the interview. [Not sure that is the correct expression because my English is not very good.] I wish you only the very best! Sincerely yours, Yao Wen |

Well, I got through the 1st interview, and it sounds like quite an exciting opportunity! I find out sometime next week if I move onto the second round, which would involve many people on the line. After speaking with her, I am definitely jazzed, though she asked if I was willing to relocate to Seattle and I said no. They do have an office where I am based, and the role said location open-ended. They have offices all over the country. So I hope that doesn't deter them. Seattle is their main office. And most of their applicants came from Seattle. So if I make it to round 2, I really have to woo them, amaze and impress them.

I just came to this thread to ask how it went!
How awesome! Good luck with second rounds My younger nephew just moved to Seattle to work for Oracle. He loves Seattle!!!! His girlfriend is planning to follow him up there when covid is over and so on. He got an apartment walking distance from his job, in downtown, he loves it. Well he works from home now. Don’t say no to Seattle, maybe? Fresh start? |

I had a girlfriend who lived there for years and enjoyed it. I don't wish to move across the country again. I did it once and that was enough. It's hard starting all over. I am in no shape to do something as big as that. __________________ "Twenty-five years and my life is still trying to get up that great big hill of hope for a destination" ~4 Non Blondes |
