So, to be fair, I am done with my ability to get a raise. I am at the top of my pay grade and no matter how I do.. I won't get a raise. The only thing I can hope for is a cash award ($50).

So, it clearly it is in management's best interest to give me a good review and keep me motivated.

But, for the first time ever I got all 100% - exceeds expectations.

The write up was also quite good and made me feel good.

Back in February there was a tricky issue that I had tried to bring to several people's attention and mostly got blown off. So I went to my boss and asked him what he knew and he didn't know anything so he said put it in an email. I did my usual through job and flagged the issue that could have been disastrous and sent it off never thinking a thing about it.

But the memo made it to the Chief before my boss and she was very grateful for the flag and the through explanation. She nipped the issue in the bud.

With the virus I had totally forgotten about it - but this made it to my review.

This makes me feel good because I had an abusive boss for 14 years. He put road blocks to my doing well and always try to say I was a moron. (but he set me up constantly) But I listened and paid attention and now all of his knowledge is within me and I use it to make myself and my new boss look good. So it makes me feel good that without the abusive boss I have been able to do better and better and show them all it was the abusive boss that was the problem. I used to always says that living well is the best revenge and rewriting the story of my competency is the best revenge.

In addition my current boss used to be "one of us" so he knows the ropes of my job and it is clear knowing that.. he can evaluate me properly. Prior managers didn't know these things.

But honestly, I have to figure out how to draw it back a little.

I think there is a lesson in this many people would benefit from learning. Congratulations on your perseverance & coming out on top!

One problem... I do have to meet with my boss tomorrow to
1. Go over the review and
2. Have some goals for the year in mind.

First off, I don't even remember what my goals for this year were... Second off, how can you have goals in the middle of a pandemic when you aren't working from home? The goal is just not to fail.

I totally feel you! My goal is to keep working and not get sick. Seems pretty reasonable to me!

The goal ended up being kind of lame. I guess just something he could write on the form so he had something to write. At least it is over with.

Earned my keep a little yesterday- I work with two other people who are supposed to be the main people for my boss. They get paid more than me and get better prestige... but can't even be bothered to crack a rule book and know procedure.

They sent me something yesterday and it had a glaring error... imho the person in charge of this should have checked the rule..

So I had to contact my boss and ask.. sending it out that way would make us look like we were fools.

It really annoys me. People in this position before were young so I would typically give it a pass but the person in the position now is old and sooo arrogant... so it is even more annoying that something basic she can't seem to see. I know she and my boss probably think I am a jerk for pointing it out but it is her job to have this stuff be perfect.

I am exhausted from catching their errors.
