People always ask me why I don't work as a healthcare worker, instead of a teacher, because it makes more money. As if this is the end all and be all of my life. I find some people to be money worshippers to the point where I want nothing to do with them. Money is everything attitude is so prevalent these days. I have made it a point to say I am happy being a teacher but this does not seem to make sense to many. Well, I am happy now, believe it or not. I am stable and healthy and can take care of myself and not worry about the burden of someone else's life. I like my, I guess, minor responsibility of my students now. I realized a long time ago because society worships money does not mean that I should also. Don't get me wrong though, I really respect and admire health care workers as long as I am not one myself. Yes, some do make good money. But, what does that have to do with one's happiness. I really don't understand some people. I wanted to be a healthcare worker before I became ill. But, once I became ill I realized it was incompatible with my well-being. I am very grateful for my job now as a teacher. Yes, it is true that I don't earn much. However, I am healthy and happy. I can enjoy my time off too. So, I'll never be rich but as long as I am healthy and happy I can't ask for anything more. Yes, I like money too when I can enjoy eating out and doing things for myself but not to the point where I will kill myself to earn more money. Hmm, does this make sense? I feel people make snap judgments about people from their jobs. But, such is the society we live in now. I have come to the point where I just like being by myself and could care less about others who are gold diggers. How about you?

That’s ridiculous.

Some careers pay more than others. It’s a given. That’s how it works.

It doesn’t mean everyone should go into those high paid fields even if they hate those jobs and/or have no aptitude for it. I find such comments very ignorant and rude.

When people make such comments to you, I’d ask them what they do for a living. When they reply, suggest they do something else, for money or benefits or just no reason. They’ll get the message.
