Yes, I've been off work for awhile because I've been struggling with bipolar symptoms and physical issues... But I found some really good positions that involve my passion to apply to... and I don't want to waste my Bachelor's in Zoology anymore... But when I mention work to social workers and relatives, all I hear is people saying that I can only work part time, local positions that don't affect my SSI that much, one relative even posted on FB that if I'm that bored, she'll give me some paper and markers to color... Seriously? I might have Bipolar, Autism and Ethlers-danlos, but umm telling a 38 yo with an IQ of 130 that she needs to "color" really hurts...

That relative on FB is so wrong. I don't know why people make comments when they don't know who you truly are and what you capable of. Don't let that relative or anyone discourage you. Only you know what is inside of you.

One of my friends that believes a little more in me said I should of replied "oh I get to color? What daycare center do I get to go to?" But seriously, the person that said that is an older lady and I didn't want to say anything hurtful myself...

People who make mean comments really suck. How cruel of her.

(Many adults do colouring these days as it is good for the brain apparently, and can be relaxing, but it does not sound like that person meant it in any kind, supportive or sensible way grrrrr)

I too wish I had made a sarcastic comment back to ''family'' members who constantly put me down. I was (and am) the ''bigger'' person, and so are you!

Surely an older lady ''should'' have known better grrr.. Some of the meanest relatives to me were over 60

Like one position I applied to is very similar to stuff I did before I was really good at, and it's a National Park Service position that participates with non-competitive Schedule A hiring... And it's pretty close to an area where I used to live and I have friends there... I told one of them and she is hoping I get it so I can move back to that area... Here's to hoping...
