Hello everyone. I’ll highly appreciate any advices, comments, or any other information you might have for me. Here goes my confession.

I’m a man, 34 years old, happily married, no kids yet, have my own home and doing okay financially. I’ve been in the IT industry since I was 18. Mostly web development and web design. Firstly, I’ve started as developer in company, and then I’ve opened my business. It has been my only career and only job I’m good at and it gave me many good things in return. There’s nothing else I know how to do, at least I think so. After so many years in one field, I obviously become sick and tired of clients, people, coding, designing and computers and IT in general. Not to mention that it gave me borderline depression. I was happy and outgoing fella, and now I’m completely the opposite. Like work/business killed my willingness to live. My heart and mind are telling me I must finish this chapter of life.

Therefore, for a long time already, I’m contemplating career change, but it feels scary. I’m absolutely clueless of what else I could in my life. I guess I’m good at driving since I travelled most of Europe by car. I feel great when I’m helping and counseling others, especially friends when they have some problems. However, at my age is probably too late to become psychotherapist or anything similar. I’m also into football, soccer and sports in general since I was a little kid so something sports related could do the trick. Lastly, I like spending time in nature and I’m somewhat fit.

As I’ve pointed out earlier, it feels so damn scary and impossible to even think to do something else in life because I’m so used to the damn IT. Like I have a blockage. And I’m totally clueless on what would be best next career, or a job for me. I'm in critical need for new passion in life.

What do you think I should do? Thank you, fellow humans.

I don’t know what career is best for you, but at 34 there is still be time to change. I know a software developer in his 50s who quit his job to go back to school to be a therapist.

Well, I'm a commercial driver myself. I can tell you from experience a LOVE of driving and being alone is nessecary if you want to drive over the road(OTR). Nonetheless, there are lots of other driving options including: Regional, less than truck load (LTL), and a wide variety of local jobs.

Conservation Officer with the DNR/BLM may be a good fit as well.

Heres the question I was asked that lead me to driving: "If you could get paid to do anything, what would it be?" Answer that, then find a way to make it happen!

Good luck!
