They were both really passive aggressive and it honestly made me want to die at certain points because I could not escape the constant tension. I would try to make things better - olive branches like what your former roommate did with the chocolate bar - and it never made any difference. I felt so helpless and trapped.

There's being assertive and there's being aggressive or passive aggressive. I'm not saying you should have subverted your own wants or needs to "keep the peace." But there is also a difference between not feeling like you have to be nice to everyone just because and feeling like it's ok to treat someone you're living with the way that you did and make their life a living hell. If you recognize that you aren't required to be nice to anybody, you might want to take that a step farther and recognize that other people might feel the same way and not take it so personally when someone you've just met does something like she did. Yeah, it wasn't a great thing for her to do - but if she felt like she had grounds for a complaint, then by your logic, why must she be nice and hold her tongue to keep the peace? Since you didn't get kicked out or imprisoned, I assume her complaint was minor. She was in the wrong, in my opinion, to not address it with you directly, but I'm just saying you didn't have to go nuclear on her.

And my unsolicited advice is that you not use strategies like this with people because at some point, you'll mess with the wrong person and reap what you've sewn. I had and continue to have so many fantasies about ways I could take revenge on my former roommates and pay them back for just a tiny amount of the misery they caused me. They would deserve it. But I am trying to content myself knowing that the way they act will catch up with them and I don't want to risk having to pay for taking my vengeance.
I'm sorry about your own experience.

With my building layout- I have my own separate kitchen and living area. The only thing we shared was the bathroom.

I've had other flatmates and an actual roommate before who would set 5am alarms- so IÂ’m used to living with others and making compromises but I'm not an angel and don't pretend to be.

She complained about my sister staying with me when her boyfriend was down every other week. She made lists of the products I should be buying and using and how to clean. There were rules about windows being allowed to be left open. I know I didn’t clean to the same standard as her and would have agreed if there was poo smeared all over and blood left in the bathroom, but it felt excessive.

I burnt the bridges when she frequently called the building manager on me without speaking to me first for unannounced checks- three visits in the space of two weeks is not okay.

I kept dates and took photos of all the times I cleaned in the bathroom .

The building manager told me she understood and when I asked the manager what specifically I was supposed to clean when she came up she couldn’t give me an answer.

I'm not going to answer the door when there's someone angrily knocking.

The music was from my laptop only and no external speakers.

I'm allowed to cook whatever I want in my kitchen without having to asking her permission.

Accepting the chocolate would have been meaningless. Should I accept it to make her feel better?

I also don't have to talk to anyone when I just want to shower or brush my teeth. The silent treatment was also just waiting until she left the bathroom before going in. She’d do the same so we wouldn’t see each other for weeks.

I started taking my new med a few days ago and I feel like I can't sleep. Each night I've been waking up constantly and tossing and turning. I don't want to blame it on the med this early on, but it doesn't seem like a coincidence. I'm so incredibly exhausted.

It's very possible that the medication could be having this effect. I had the opposite problem. Can you contact your psych doctor to maybe try an alternative.

What time do you take the med? Could you try switching the time--like if you take it at night, try in the morning or vice versa? I've found with things I've taken in the past, with some I do better taking at night, others in the morning.

I dreamt last night I published a poem. Which would be quite a feat, since I've never submitted any poems anywhere.

I'm taking it at night, but he did say I could switch it to the morning if I wanted to. So I'll try switching it and see if it helps.

I see him again on Thursday and he only gave me a week supply. He told me if restlessness got too bad to not take it and we'd figure out something else.

This is probably TMI but I feel like my insides are preparing to get a cycle which shouldn’t really be since I haven’t had a cycle in over 4 years from the microgestin I take.

I sometimes feel that way on the Lupron. It just never actually happens.

Yes..I get this feeling probably twice a year. That annoying feeling like something is being tugged on in there will probably go away in a day or so.

I start two weeks of night ICU today. I hate doing night ICU; it scares me. I want my parents to come save me from this.

The good news is that after these two weeks I don’t have to do night ICU ever again.

I've been looking at some really old Dear Ts.

This was my first ever post in Dear T. I am talking to T1. I was surprised, even though logically it is unsurprising, that I was stressing about T1's inconsistencies even in my first ever post:
https://psychcentralforums.com/3814898-post403.html

Here was when I took a break from T1, right before I met my current T:
https://psychcentralforums.com/4149752-post202.html

First ever Dear T just to my current T:
https://psychcentralforums.com/4210876-post562.html

The first time I experienced connection and feeling safe and held with my current T. The moment that made my mind up not to go back to T1:

Sometimes I wish I could write really honest emails in reply to students:

Dear Student Full of BS,

Thank you for your message alerting me to the technical problems with your exam due to the exam proctoring software and asking me to solve them. I am flattered that you believe I know everything.

But as announced twice, once in class and once by email, technical issues need to be turned over to the exam software support people or the university IT services. Perhaps if you attended class you would have registered this information.

Although I am not omniscient, I do know some things. One, you have done none of the daily reading quizzes yet this term. Two, you have not attended class, and attendance is measured by the university's electronic polling system. Three, one of those previous assignments required students to use the same exam proctoring software you are now having trouble with, to ensure that such problems did not surface suddenly the afternoon the exam was due, such as yours. Four, you also haven't done the preliminary activities to the class, without completion of which you cannot even access the exam.

So contact UITS. Or remember that the syllabus--which you have not read or absorbed, since one of those uncompleted preliminary activities is a quiz on the syllabus--allows one exam of the four to drop. So you could concentrate your efforts on being ready for the second exam.

Of course, we both know you will not do that. You will skip the exam, not contact UITS, and continue not to complete course requirements or work out your problem with the exam software, and repeat this whole episode at exam 2 time. But let's pretend, shall we?

With best wishes for your continued avoidance of work and your efforts to manipulate or BS your professors.

Hope that helps,

Professor ATAT

Usually I have visual hallucinations. I've had them for years. Rarely I get auditory hallucinations which scare the crap out of me. I'm not T shopping yet but I am Pdoc shopping. Not fun.

Professor ATAT,
I’m telling my mom on you and will have her call the office. (That’s the response I picture)

I’m glad you redirected that email to the couch instead of sending it as lovely as that would be if it wouldn’t cost you your job.

I survived my cousins wedding in Vegas. I drove the whole way there. I drove half of the way home and my Dad the other half. I hung out with two of my cousins, an aunt, and my parents. I think everyone except my parents think I'm a loser in that family so I was really uncomfortable. My Mom kept pointing out my anxious habits. Um...unhelpful. so I ended up feeling like the freak I probably am. I might be being too hard on myself. But at least that's over. Another cousin is getting married soon. Haven't gotten an invite yet. No invite, no present. That's my motto! Here's hoping no invite comes!!

Sounds more like your mom was being too hard on you. I wonder if living with her is good for you.

I think she just wants me to be "normal" in public. Hard for someone on the autism spectrum and hard for someone with anxiety. But she does love me a lot.
